Monday Merriment

The new house is starting to feel like real comfort. Audrey is all moved in, pictures are slowly getting hung on the wall, and the fridge finally has food in it! We have wanted from the beginning for our house to be everyone’s gathering place, and it’s becoming just that. We’ve had birthday parties, and made meals. Beautiful things are happening here.

My hair is getting so long. I feel like it completely encompasses “me”.

A few weeks ago Audrey and I planted a “garden” of tomatos, basil, green beans, sunflowers, and wild flowers in the front. We were informed that we planted them too early, because the ground is still too cold. We had given up hope, and were prepared to plant more in about a month. But after a couple big rains, we found tomato, sunflower, and wild flower sprouts! We are so excited. Our strawberries in the pot out front are quite fruitful as well.

Life is different when you have the ability to live exactly how you want to. I’m breathing fresh air because of the openness I live inside of. I’m so in love with this life I live, and I can’t get enough of the new things I am learning.

Home Sneak Peek

As some of you may know, I recently moved out and into an apartment! My dear friend Audrey and I have been moving over the past week or so, in order to get it looking entirely us. If you’ve been following me on instagram (username: melodieannn) you’ll know Chris and I took a giant IKEA trip to fill the house with homey love. I thought I’d share a few sneak peeks to show you how it’s coming along. I’ll be sure to post a full house tour at some point, but the house isn’t quite ready for that yet.

I’ve never lived on my own before, and I’m just so ecstatic to be embarking on this new adventure, especially with Audrey. Such a happy time to continue the process of starting over. I’m especially excited about our brand new garden and the space we are using for a studio work place (I’m going to save those for a surprise!)

p.s. remember my post about bikes? I found the one! Chris and I took a ride to our favorite pizza spot and I am smitten with her!

Monday Merriment

Today’s Monday Merriment is short and sweet due to the very focused excitement this past week.

1. We launched our new website! And if you check out the blog, we are featuring images from our gallery all week long.

2. This pretty lady and I just got an apartment/house together. It’s my first real house, and am so excited to be making it into a home.

Monday Merriment

I’m still spending a lot of time discovering my style. I’ve recently discovered that I like natural colors and cuts, things that fit and still flow. I’m finding I have really simple taste, with anything from colors to patterns to styles. I look at so many blogs and feel surrounded by girly, colorful, dressy styles that aren’t particularly me. So I’m learning what it looks like to have my own fashion sense based on my lifestyle and likings, not what I simply see around me. These are some looks that have inspired me in this new discovery.

The Olsens seem to simply do-no-wrong when it comes to fashion.

On a separate note- I just found out about the Singer 160 anniversary machine. Needless to say, it’s on my immediate wishlist.

Married To Amazement

Some moments hardly require words. Some moments are simply there to be held and cherished by the heart. I’m grateful for these moments, these memories.

“When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.”

Monday Merriment

As Summer is quickly approaching, I cannot stop thinking about bicycles. My car broke down a few weeks ago and since I have yet to buy a new one, there have been times I’ve felt a little bit stranded in my home. The thought of having a bicycle to cruise around on makes my heart pitter-patter. That being said- I’ve spent a lot of time browsing the internet looking for bicycles rather than cars. (Practical, I know.) Here are some of my favorites I’ve found.

Monday Merriment is going to be a new weekly feature to showcase all the things tickling my heart strings.

Realization

I have come to the realization that I am an imperfect person. As you’ve noticed, I’ve been absent here. I have a tendency to start blogs and post regularly for a few weeks and then out of nowhere completely die out. I think it’s because I set expectations. I have been blogging for other people rather than for myself. Which is what I’ve said too many times, but it’s something that is finally making the infinite migration from my head to my heart. And I’m starting to get it. Blogging isn’t about readers, or comments, or how many views. It’s about myself- what do I want to share? What story do I want to tell? I’m going to be looking back on this later, and it’s going to mean something to me, even if it doesn’t mean anything to anyone else.
I apologize for the place this blog has come to- for the emptiness that has become this blog space. But the truth is- I create things. From outfits, to creative projects, to simple words of my heart. I create things and I want to share them in a collective space for myself and others.

That being said- I’m here. I am here, in this world, living life. And it’s a little bit ugly and scary at times but I’m here. And I’m creating things. And I’m changing myself in order to change the world around me. I guess that’s where it starts. It starts with a simple start.

A Day

Chris and I went out for morning bagels, and to our favorite Starbucks in town to get some work done. The weather was perfectly freezing. I asked him to park on the top of the parking garage, and we ended up running around like free spirits trying to stay warm. A day in the life, I guess.

Happy Weekend!

(Outfit Details: sweater- Goodwill, originally from Target, dress-Goodwill, also originally from Target, leggings- unsure, socks-Target, boots-Steve Madden, bought on Ebay.)

I’ve been eating only vegetarian foods for the past three days. I’m also switching to all natural skincare products- from wash to toothpaste. I haven’t been eating foods that take care of my body for the last couple years, and I’m already seeing the beauty that lies in the awareness of what’s being put in my body. Chris and I are doing yoga and working out to be more responsible with our bodies. Junky foods were simply the next that needed to go. It’s an adventure in itself.
Chris and I cooked noodles and bruschetta for dinner tonight (thanks to the recipes of love and lemons blog) – and now he’s crashed on my lap. I’m thinking he’s liking the veggie-based meals as well.

Happy weekend! I hope you all spend your weekend adventuring, creating, and loving.

Comfort Clothes

(Outfit Details: earrings-Lia Sophia, scarf-an organization helping women to make money in Africa I can’t remember the name of, shirt-Target, pants-Salvation Army, shoes- Target.)

This is how you would find me looking at a coffee shop borrowing wifi and drinking chai (probably blogging or editing photos, too). I had a meeting in this outfit, too. A friend/stylist meeting for an upcoming fashion shoot. Did you hear that? An upcoming fashion shoot.
Yep, you heard it. I really am finally doing things I’ve always wanted to do.

(Notice the new hairs? What do you think?)
